next year
2023 was a vibrant year for Frontløberne, marked by a range of innovative projects and international collaborations. Highlights included ReGen Lab, a pioneering educational program for cultural creators, and Up Front, which spotlighted the talents of Frontløberne’s members through community events. The Nåbø project connected Aarhus and Tromsø through creative experiments, residencies, and a new culture resource map, kultur-kortet.dk.
Additionally, Vibstock Showcase and Vi Gør Det Sgu Selv provided upcoming musicians with unique opportunities to develop their craft. The year also featured initiatives to combat discrimination and foster inclusivity, culminating in the national cultural entrepreneurship conference Culture Kicks Back in Copenhagen.

ReGen Lab
Launched in collaboration with C-Cube, ReGen Lab is an educational program designed to teach young cultural creators qualitative research methods for the cultural sector. The project aims to increase the success rate of new cultural initiatives by equipping participants with tools for better project management and funding opportunities.
The program trained 10 participants in research methodologies, project prototyping, and navigating alternative funding sources. Organized in phases, the project included partnership and community building, training, mentorship, and documentation.
Up Front
Up Front focused on highlighting the members of Frontløberne, showcasing their work and addressing socially relevant issues.
Events in August and October highlighted groups such as Club Curious, Pana Radio, Gråzonen, and more. The project culminated in the December release of the new website, aimed at providing greater exposure to members and supporting their entry into the professional creative world.
Nåbø
Connecting Aarhus and Tromsø, Nåbø explored the intersection of culture and technology. Led by TVIBIT in Tromsø and Frontløberne in Aarhus, the project included workshops, residencies, and the development of kultur-kortet.dk, a comprehensive resource map for cultural creators.
The project hosted residencies where participants co-designed public-facing initiatives, ranging from audio documentaries to sculptures. Workshops like Shared Objects and Place Specific Solar Photography further fostered creativity and collaboration.
About the project
Nåbø, originally called Culture Hack!, was dreamt up by Sofie Bach, who wrote the grant together with Stine Skjødt Mygind. Nåbø is funded by a Small Scale Partnerships grant from the Erasmus+ program. Liam Nilsen is responsible for all DK aspects of the project.
Find the project’s details on the Erasmus+ Projects Portal here.
In February 2022, Sofie and Liam conducted a research trip to Tromsø with generous support from Region Midtjylland. Below you can see some pictures from that trip and get a little bit of a sense of what things look like in Tromsø around February.
Publication
The Nåbø project included the publication of a book, The Project Handbook - for cultural organizers. The book contains tools for running projects - everything from how to apply for grants, to how you manage volunteers, to how you can design a good PR campaign.
Much of the book is based on our previous book, Hack Det!
The graphics have been redesigned by Club Curious.
The book is available for free as a PDF here. You can also come by Frontløberne’s office and pickup a free physical copy as well - while supplies last!
Vibstock showcase at SEEK Festival
Frontløberne partnered with Vibstock Festival to host a mini showcase competition for upcoming Aarhus musicians. Four selected bands performed in one showcase round at SEEK Festival, with the winning band earning a spot on the Vibstock 2023 lineup. The event aimed to strengthen ties between Aarhus and Viborg while supporting emerging musicians.
The winner of the showcase was South Of Limbo.
Vi gør det sgu selv
This intensive workshop series equipped 15 musicians with the tools to navigate the music industry independently, from funding to production. Participants prepared grant applications for the Aarhus music fund, with the goal of enabling unique release concerts.
Culture Kicks Back
This national conference and industry festival in Copenhagen explored the future of cultural entrepreneurship in Denmark. Participants discussed challenges and opportunities for the next generation of cultural creators while delving into key themes surrounding the arts and cultural innovation.
Fighting discrimination
In collaboration with Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, Frontløberne developed actionable recommendations for combating discrimination across sectors, including the labor market, housing, education, and nightlife. These initiatives emphasized inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.
