2017
#RethinkActivism #MidtkraftCamping #HackSchool #UngdommensFolkemøde2017 was a transformative year for Frontløberne, marked by new leadership and innovative projects. The highlight was the Rethink Activism festival, which engaged over 10,000 participants in Aarhus’s South Harbor.
Other notable initiatives included Midtkraft Camping, SPOT Festival contributions, and a digital-focused role at Kulturmødet Mors. Frontløberne also hosted a Hack School lab at Ungdommens Folkemøde, exploring future-oriented education, while continuing a packed calendar of cultural events and collaborations.

Rethink Activism
Throughout 2017, and beyond, Frontløberne collaborated with Sager der Samler to rethink Aarhus’s traditional societal institutions, transforming the old industrial area of Sydhavnen into a temporary “city within the city.” This effort culminated in Rethink Activism (September 15–17), an activist festival on Sydhavnen. The festival showcased 250 activists, entrepreneurs, and everyday changemakers through debates, workshops, concerts, and discussions with the 10,000 attendees. Together, they explored creative and sustainable solutions for societal challenges.
Frontløberne hosted the city’s cultural house and three outdoor venues during the festival, emphasizing a strong youth cultural presence. These spaces featured 80 activists, 40 cultural events, and 20 young organizers. Preparation for the festival began in 2016, with dedicated volunteers shaping its goals, program, and final execution.

SPOT På Sydhavnen
On May 6, during SPOT Festival, Frontløberne hosted a 16-hour day party with food, sunshine, and six concerts. Later in the day, performances moved indoors to Lydhavnens studios for intimate concerts.
SPOT Festival, held annually in the first weekend of May, highlights upcoming Danish artists.
Midtrkraft camping
During week 28, typically a quiet summer holiday period, Midtkraft Camping brought life to Kulbroen at Sydhavnen. The event offered camping vibes, music, workshops, and basketball tournaments. As a “work in progress” project, it welcomed spontaneous contributions from visitors, creating a dynamic and collaborative summer week.
Kulturmødet Mors
As in previous years, Frontløberne participated in Kulturfjorden (formerly called the Youth Camp) at Kulturmødet Mors. Kulturmødet Mors is often compared to Folkemødet on Bornholm. However, in Northern Jutland, thousands of culture enthusiasts and curious minds gather for discussions, debates, workshops, and events, all centered around art and culture. The fjord area, in particular, buzzes with a unique festival atmosphere.
This year, Frontløberne’s role at Kulturmødet Mors was slightly different from 2014, 2015, and 2016. Instead of managing the physical space, we focused on Kulturfjorden’s virtual presence and digital engagement.

Ungdommens Folkemøde
How do we create an educational system that prepares youth for life in an increasingly unpredictable and complex world? This is the question we asked ourselves.
"Hack School" is a concept designed to clear traditional schedules and put curiosity at the center of education. It allows young people to take charge of their own learning, fostering creativity, innovation, and the freedom to dive deeply into what interests them. The working life of the future requires young people to tackle complex problems and challenges—and the only way to learn this is by doing it.
At Ungdommens Folkemøde in Copenhagen, Frontløberne created a "Hack School Laboratory" to explore answers to this pressing question about the future of education. Together with young participants, we examined new ideas for what a future school system should look like and how young people themselves can be co-creators of it.
